Apostle Dr. Emma J. Terrell received her call to pastor in 1987 after spending years in Christian leadership roles; youth leader, church secretary-treasurer, Sunday School teacher and later receiving her ministers license (United Holiness Church). She founded New Beginners Church in 1988 from a spare room in her home, lovingly remembered as “the Blue Room”. Moving from different locations to accommodate rapid growth; in 1995, she was granted a 17-acre parcel of land that five churches merging together could not obtain. The land owner granted the acreage to Dr. Emma instead, stating he was simply lead to do so. We know it was God. After renovating the existing building the congregation once again outgrew the facility and in 2000 she built the current 650-seat sanctuary and offices of New Beginners Church. Dr. Emma Terrell presently takes the role as overseer after 35 years as Senior Pastor, handing over the reigns of Pastor to her son, Howard R. Terrell, formerly her Associate Pastor. Dr. Emma also founded Declaring A New Thing Ministry, her personal teaching ministry, The Center of Healing Outreach (now NBC Outreach) and current plans for Emma’s Kitchen to feed those in need from the proceeds.
Pastor Howard R. Terrell currently leads our NBC Congregation with anointed gifts in prophecy and evangelistic ministry. Receiving salvation at eighteen years of age then ministering his initial sermon shortly after. Pastor Howard places a strong emphasis on Outreach ministry and the ministry of revelation knowledge. He is the founder of Keys To Victory Bible Study, the Prophetic Roundtable and The Watchman, a spiritual enrichment ministry offering “Spiritual Coaching” to ministers and leaders in ministry. Pastor Howard also conducts the NBC Ministers-In-Training Program as well as can be seen on the NOW Network with the FAITH Encounters Program he conducts with his wife, Tanisha Terrell and other guest ministers.
Tanisha H. Terrell leads along side her husband Howard Terrell as pastors of New Beginners Church. Starting her leadership Pastor Tanisha took on the role of watching the children during services from NBC beginnings. That role turned into becoming The Joshua Generation Youth Pastor as well as the leader of NBC Women’s Ministry. She is the founder of HTLady Ministries, her personal teaching ministry and holds a Bachelors Degree in Business. Anointed in the gift of dream interpretation and a love for the Youth, her favorite quote is “Yes We Can” and as a wife of over 30 years, mother of five and grandmother to six she is evidence of her quote.
